Linda Walker Clark is an artist whose creativity was inspired as a child by her grandmother, by art classes in school, and by online and in-person workshops.
One of her most recent inspirations came from an art retreat in Ireland that was conducted earlier this year by artist Roisin O’Farrell. Clark described it as “a creative pilgrimage” that provided an opportunity to sketch and to gather reference photographs while absorbing Irish culture.
At the October meeting of Delta Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Clark discussed her 10-day trip to Ireland and displayed some of her lovely oil paintings that were inspired by her experiences there.
Clark’s work, which is done in vibrant oil paints, often features “down-home” scenes inspired by her deep roots in Southern Virginia. Her paintings are displayed at Crossroads Art Center in Henrico County, a gallery that features mid-Atlantic artists. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is an honorary organization for key women educators. Members of the Delta Alpha Chapter live primarily in Brunswick, Lunenburg and other neighboring Southside Virginia counties.
