As you read this, we will be in the new year, 2024! Happy New Year and all that jazz. No, I probably did not stay up to watch the ball drop. They say 60 is the new 40! I don’t think so…zzzzz!
Anyway, another new year is here! It is always nice to think that we can start off fresh and anew. It doesn’t always work but it is the thought that counts. I pretty much gave up on New Year’s resolutions a while back. They always seemed to deal with changing old habits. Old bad habits. Do you really think that it will work to make a toast on Dec. 31 and say, “I’m not going to do that anymore!” It’s like giving up chocolate for Lent and then on Day 41 you binge! Maybe it would be better to resolve to make new and good habits. That way you would be gaining something good and pushing something bad out of the way.
At this point, you may be asking yourself, “Just what new and good habits might J.B. be speaking of?” I’m glad you asked! You might want to consider taking the Library Challenge in 2024. “And just what is that”, you may also be asking? Another good question!
I happened to have recently received a supply of 2024 library calendars. Each calendar displays the 12 months of the year along with a plethora (Big Word-it means ‘a lot’)… (I had to look it up) of reading suggestions. These suggestions include a book a friend recommended, a book by an author you’ve never read before, a book about a different country and everything in between!
I think it is a great idea! You never know what you might find that you would never have considered reading before. I’m going to take the Library Challenge! Maybe I can expand my horizons! Maybe.
Come by and pick up one of the library’s 2024 calendars and take the Library Challenge!
Be good!
