Robert “Bobby, Doc” Lenwood Chaney, 78 of Capeville, formerly of Kenbridge, died Sunday, May 12. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee and Jacqueline Mitchell Chaney; brother, William Lee Chaney Jr. and his in-laws, Billie Joe and Marilyn Coffee.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Michele Coffee Chaney; two daughters, Deborah C. Holt (Greg) and Jill C. Mauler (Dennis) and his devoted companion, Doc Chaney Jr. Also survived by three grandchildren, Sally Carter Holt, Jackson Mitchell Holt and Shelby Grayson Montgomery; sister-in law, Jerry C. Chaney and his nephew, William Lee Chaney III and niece, Kelly Chaney and other extended family.
Bobby graduated from FUMA and attended RPI. He was a former active member of Kenbridge Baptist Church, past owner of Bill’s Supermarket, proud mason for over 50 years and a devoted Christian and Deacon at Lower Northampton Baptist Church in Cape Charles. Upon retirement, Bobby and Michele moved to the Eastern Shore, where they spent many hours gardening, boating, fishing and entertaining family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 30, at 2 p.m., in the Clarke Funeral Home at 110 E. Fifth Ave in Kenbridge. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. There will be a private burial in Kenbridge Heights Cemetery.
