After the debate on June 27, one might think things couldn’t get worse for President Biden. One would be wrong. A series of disastrous interviews — and the revelation that his team had been feeding questions to reporters — made it even more clear that Biden is just not up to the toughest job in the world.

The first Presidential debate was bad for President Biden. It laid bare what every day Virginians have been seeing with their own eyes for the past three years — President Biden isn’t up to the job.

This past week, it got worse, with more and more Democrats calling for him to drop out of the race — and potentially hand the reins over to Vice President Kamala Harris.

In an interview with ABC News, Biden stumbled badly, giving answers bordering on nonsense to serious foreign policy questions. Democrats reacted badly. Senator Mark Warner was allegedly working to get a group of Democratic Senators to encourage Biden to drop out.

But in Virginia, key Democrats made it clear that they were “Ridin’ With Biden” all the way to the end. For her part, the President of the Senate chastised any Democrats who questioned President Biden’s competence.

For their part, the Biden campaign has said repeatedly that Biden is the Democratic nominee and will not be stepping aside. As Tony Soprano once said, “If you gotta keep telling people you’re the boss, you’re not the boss.”

Biden’s team noted that he is actively engaged between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day, and after the debate, he said he would no longer schedule events after 8 p.m.

This is simply not acceptable. Emergencies don’t wait on the President to get up from his nap. Our country needs a leader who can do the job. President Biden’s advanced age and obvious difficulties are a tragedy. Those who continue to push him to stay in the race should be ashamed of themselves.

ABOUT GOLD STAR FAMILIES

After weeks of pressure and anger from Gold Star families, disabled veterans, and first responders, Senate Democrats finally agreed to pass a clean repeal of changes to the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program.

Senate Democrats finally backed down after being blasted for holding two sessions — each of which cost taxpayers $50,000 or so — without taking any action.

Both the House and the Senate will reconvene on July 18 to consider a new bill that will repeal the changes and set aside an additional $90 million to cover the cost of the program for colleges and universities.

Republicans were clear from the moment we saw this language in the May budget agreement: clean repeal with future reform was the only way to solve this problem.

Even House Democrats agreed. Clean repeal passed the House 92-0.

This program was already paid for with the blood of those who gave their lives for our Commonwealth and country. House Republicans have always and will continue to stand with those who have given the last full measure of devotion.
