OCTOBER 23

JV FOOTBALL — The Central High junior varsity football team will play host to Cumberland High on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Central High, located at 131 K-V Road in Victoria.

OCTOBER 26

MORNING WORSHIP — Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services on Sunday, Oct. 26, with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom will continue his sermon series “Prodigal Son”, with the sermon “…But…”

OCTOBER 27

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY — Rosebud Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will celebrate their 59th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. Rev. Dr. Anna Wilson of Little Mount Baptist Church in Blackstone will deliver the anniversary sermon. The dress attire is white.

OCTOBER 31

TRUNK OR TREAT — The Town of Kenbridge will hold a Trunk or Treat event at the Kenbridge Community Center Parking Lot on Thursday, Oct. 31. Businesses, clubs and individuals are invited to come out, decorate their car trunk and bring lots of candy to hand out to the children. Setup can begin in the parking lot at 4:30 p.m. Candy donations will also be accepted at town hall. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the community center is located at 511 E. 5th Avenue.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL – The Central High Chargers will play host to Amelia County High on Thursday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Central High, located at 131 K-V Road in Victoria.

NOVEMBER 2

CHAMBER EVENT — The Lunenburg County Chamber of Commerce will host a concert featuring the group Appalachian Express on Saturday, Nov. 2. That’ll be at Kenbridge Town Hall, 511 East 5th Avenue, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the concert starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. You can buy tickets at Benchmark Community Bank, at the Kenbridge Town Hall, at Kenbridge Oil Company and at Smith’s Pharmacy.

SENIORS BANQUET — The Lunenburg Senior Citizens’ Inc. will have their annual banquet on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. That’ll be held at The People’s Community Center in Victoria. Luther Drummond Jr. will be the guest speaker. For tickets, call 434- 265-6370 or 434-676-8855.

KRC WRESTLING — The Kenbridge Recreational Center will host a night of professional wrestling on Saturday, Nov. 2. The actual event will be held in the softball field behind the rec center, located at 129 N. Maple Street in Kenbridge. Tickets are $15 at the door and $12 in presale. Bell time is set for 6 p.m.

NOVEMBER 3

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY — Oak Grove Baptist Church will celebrate Rev. Boris Bullock’s second anniversary with the church on Sunday, Nov. 3, during a 3 p.m. service. Pastor Steven Jones from Good Hope Baptist Church in Petersburg will deliver the message, with dinner served.

NOVEMBER 9

BRUNSWICK STEW — Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold its Brunswick Stew fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. That’ll take place at the firehouse, located at 1697 Palmer Springs Road, the intersection of Palmer Springs Road, Rough Road and Mineral Springs Road. Stew is $10 per quart. Preorders are highly encouraged and can be placed by calling 434-689-2661 or 434-689-2631. Stewmaster is Larry Clark.

CHURCH SERVICES — Victoria Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 1419 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services each Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

CHURCH SERVICES — New Grove Baptist Church is open for in-person morning worship and teleconferences on the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. In-person Sunday School will be held every week at 10 a.m. The call-in telephone number is 301-715-8592. CHURCH SERVICES — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, has re-opened its church doors for in-person and teleconference services. These will be held every first and third Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m.

CHURCH SERVICES — Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 127 Oak Grove Road, holds worship services on each first and third Sunday at 11:30 a.m. under the leadership of Rev. Boris Bullock.

VFW MEETINGS — The VFW and VFW Auxiliary meet at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at VFW Post No. 9954 in Victoria. The members of the VFW and the Auxiliary share a dinner at 6:15 p.m. prior to the meeting.

LUNENBURG REPUBLICANS — The Lunenburg Republicans meet the first Tuesday of each month at the La Victoria Mexican Restaurant in Lunenburg at 6 p.m.

BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH — Bethany Baptist Church located at 5968 Plank Road in Kenbridge holds in-person services at 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays. Sunday School is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Bring your Bible. Face masks are optional and social distancing will be practiced.
