The goal here is to put smiles on faces and make sure residents have a good time. The annual Lunenburg County Christmas Parade will aim to do just that on Friday, as it winds through the streets of Victoria. This year’s event will start at 7 p.m., with floats, marching bands, vintage cars and farm equipment making their way from the corner of Court Street and Tidewater Avenue to Main Street and then down to 3rd Street.
“We are very excited for our wide variety of parade participants this year. We’ve got everything from the Lunenburg Lightning football teams and the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth, to local Fire Departments and Emergency Service Vehicles as well as some antique vehicles,” said Town of Victoria Secretary William Pernell, one of the parade organizers. “I think the most notable participants – as well as the hardest ones to miss – will be the Central High School marching band and Rusty Iron Farm’s Mega/Monster Truck.”
Pernell told The Dispatch that the 2024 edition of the Lunenburg County Christmas Parade boasts over 25 participants. That includes newcomers like Meridian Waste and their roll off truck with singing performers, the Haven’s Hair Jeep with Christmas tunes, 4 units from the Black Stone Fire Department, and the Flat Rock Creek’s Gymnastics Team.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to provide our community with an exciting night filled with Christmas joy. I can’t wait to see the members of our community enjoying a night of floats and music,” Pernell said. “Our community is very special to me and we’re happy to have the chance to give a little Christmas magic to everyone involved.”

Parade goers can take a closer look at the seasonally adorned parade participants following the procession at the reviewing stand to be located at the intersection of Main Street and 7th Street. Festivities will wrap up at 9 p.m.
Throughout the parade and during the walk through of the floats and equipment, local purveyor Tin Can Coffee Co. will be at the Lunenburg Christmas Parade offering up their highly-touted drinks to keep event-goers warm.
“I believe one of the biggest reasons people come back is because of our sense of community. Whether or not you’re singing jingle bells on the back of a float or watching the beautiful decorated floats go by, you’re involved with your community,” Pernell explained. “Everyone is together celebrating a holiday focused on giving and kindness and I think the positive feeling people get from that brings them back every year.”
