You may find the streets in the town of Kenbridge are shining brighter and looking more festive this holiday season. If so, that’s because the administration has been working to expand and enhance holiday displays throughout the town this year and in the years to come.

New garlands, bows, snowflakes, and banners can be found adorning the Kenbridge Community to bring about the spirit of the season after they were recently installed by the town maintenance department. Town Manager Tony Matthews said the new features to the Kenbridge holiday aesthetic were made possible by local companies such as ABC Recycling, Benchmark Community Bank, Global Refining Group, Kenbridge Construction, Co. and Virginia Marble.

Matthews and the town council hope iit can rally more businesses and the community to donate in an effort to continue enhancing its holiday displays going forward. In a recent media release, Kenbridge encouraged business and communities to do so.

In a follow up with the town manager, Matthew told the Dispatch he had not received community feedback from the posting. If you’d like to be a part of the efforts to grow the holiday decorating efforts in Kenbridge or have questions about them the town office can be reached 434-676-2452.

“(The plan) is first to let businesses know that the program exists and to let them know they can  contribute to the beautification of the Town through decorations,” Matthews explained. “Second is to promote the decorations and let people know the businesses in Town have helped to make everyone’s holiday experience better.”

Matthews stressed the Kenbridge administration’s plans to expand going forward will always include local government, businesses, and citizens and the aim will be prioritizing the town’s well-being and expansion.

“The partnerships are always community-based. (Kenbridge) wants to do what serves the business, the Town, and the citizens best.”

Kenbridge officials are also encouraging locals to join in with the ongoing Lunenburg County Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas decorating competition in the spirit of making the area as festive as possible. Matthews said he believes the entire town has something to offer when it comes to holiday celebrations and making Kenbridge better as a whole.

“Everyone can help to keep the town charming. Everyone has a contribution,” Matthews said. “If we work together, we share the burden but also the reward of living and working in a great community.
