Elderly housing proposed

Area resident Wayne Parrish is proposing development of elderly housing project in Kenbridge. The “senior apartments,” as Parrish called them, will consist of two buildings with six units, he said. “The intention is to keep people out of the nursing home and safe as long as they can,” Parrish said.
The threshold of the doorway would be the highest thing residents would have to cross, he said. The town council and the planning commission will hold a joint meeting and public hearing at 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 17th on the proposal.
Parrish had proposed a similar project in 2008, but as soon it had gained approval “the recession hit.”
“It’s something that’s needed,” Parrish said. “I still want to see it done.”
