Central High School’s junior varsity (JV) baseball team stands at .500 with a 5-5 record after winning and losing big last week.

The Chargers fell 12-1 to visiting JV squad from Randolph-Henry High School on Thursday despite a decent showing on defense.

“We only had three hits and had nine fly outs in the game,” Central Head Coach Mike McGrath said. “R-H had 12 hits, and we did not play that badly in the field.”

Two days prior, the Chargers hosted Cumberland High School’s JV team and put together a 12-2 blowout win.

“Simply put versus Cumberland, we hit the baseball well,” McGrath said. “We had eight hits in the game and made some good defensive plays.”

Central it set to visit Prince Edward County High School’s JV team on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
