The VFW Auxiliary Post 9954, of Victoria, recently recognized Jesse Vaughan, owner of Vaughan’s Grocery for his unsolicited inspirational patriotic service to the community through the daily display of the American Flag.

“When presented with a certificate of thanks, Mr. Vaughan stated, ‘I don’t fly the flag for the recognition, I fly it because I love this country,’” according to a press release. “The VFW Auxiliary strives to promote Americanism as an unfailing love of country: loyalty to its institutions and ideals; eagerness to defend against its enemies; undivided allegiance to the flag; and a desire to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and posterity.”
