PROVERBS 31 MAN SERVICE, 4 p.m. at Pleasant Oak Baptist Church, 807 Pleasant Oak Road, Victoria. Guest will be the Rev. Frank Watson and St. Luke Baptist Church choir and the Gospel Traveliers, of Farmville.

COME JOIN THE FUN, 6-7 p.m. at the Victoria Library to learn more about healthy recipes, smart size portions, discovering cooking skills and how to prepare easy, low-cost meals. This event is sponsored by The Family Nutrition Program of Virginia Cooperative Extension.

SEPTEMBER 3

EIGHTH PASTOR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church,  3606 Kenbridge Road, Blackstone for pastor the Rev. Dr. Irene B. Allen. The Rev. Isaiah Hurt and the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Drakes Branch will be charge of the service. Dinner will be served immediately following the service. The public is cordially invited to attend.

FALL REHEARSAL, 6-8 p.m. for the Southside Virginia Community College Chorus at South Hill Presbyterian Church, 914 Mecklenburg Ave., South Hill. CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the New Galilee Senior Choir. Everyone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

SACT AUDITIONS, 6-8 p.m. for the SACT Broadway Revue directed by Maurice Ellis and Nicci Bragg, at the Kenbridge Community Center, 511 E. 5th Ave., Kenbridge. All participants must come prepared with a Broadway song they would like to perform. Bluetooth devices will be available as well as a speaker to connect your device. Showmanship counts. If cast, you may be asked to perform additional songs. CLASS REUNION, 6 p.m. of the Nottoway Senior High Class of 1977. Cocktails and dinner will be held at the Blackstone Herb Cottage. Cost is $35. Members may also attend the Nottoway High School home football game against Buckingham on Sept. 22. Members must register by August 23rd.

OCTOBER 7

OPPORTUNITY FUND SKEET CLASSIC, 8 a.m. at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox for graduating high school seniors in Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) service area. In just two years, 30 $1,000 scholarships have been given to students headed to college or a trade/technical school whose parents or guardians are served by SEC. The individual registration fee for the skeet shoot is $75, while squads of five can sign up for $325. All participants must provide their own guns and ammunition, and skeet shooters of all levels are welcome. The event is limited to the first 50 participants, who must register in advance. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 26. Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available for businesses and individuals who’d like to support this event. Sponsor returns include having a squad in the event, banners, signage and recognition in the event program.
