After starting the year with three consecutive losses, Central High School’s junior varsity football team has begun to turn things around.

The Chargers ran away from host Cumberland on Thursday night with a 50-24 victory. It represented — by far — Central’s highest point output of the year.

The Chargers’ first victory came via forfeit against Buckingham the week prior.

Central opened the season with a narrow 13-6 home loss to Nottoway on Aug. 24. The next week the Chargers lost 36-12 to visiting William Campbell, and they fell 49-13 on Sept. 11 to host Goochland.

The Chargers (2-3) visit Bluestone on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., the first of their four remaining games.
