Chargers place second, third at track meet

On Wednesday, April 13, the Central High School boys and girls track teams hosted Goochland and Randolph-Henry high schools. The boys team placed second with 57 points, while the girls team finished third with 28 points.
Goochland won the boys track meet with 73 points and R-H finished in third with 29.
Brandon Scott finished in first in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles events. He also placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump.
Malik Lambert placed first in the 200-meter dash and the second in the 100-meter event.
Raymond Alexander placed first in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.
Dion Graham placed second in shot put.
Karim Crowder placed second in the 110-meter hurdles event.
Brandon Williams took second in discus and third in shot put.
Tenique Chavous took third place in the triple jump, third in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 110-meter hurdles event.
Jabari Kates rounded out the scoring for the boys team with a fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter event.
The girls meet was led by Goochland with 63 points. R-H took second with 40 points.
Zakiyyah Hurt placed second in the 300-meter hurdles, first in the long jump and first in the triple jump. Morgan Hall placed first in the 3,200-meter event and second in the 800-meter dash.
Taylor King took home second in the 1,600-meter event and second in the 800-meter dash.
Karen Edmondson finished fourth in the discus and shot put events.
The teams will return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Amelia County High School for a 4:30 p.m. meet against Amelia and Buckingham.
