Teachers, staff and students at Victoria Elementary School donned red, white and blue to commemorate Patriot’s Day on Monday.
Principal Casey Jackson said staff at the school encouraged students to wear the colors while many of the staff members wore patriotic clothing.
During the morning announcements, students and staff held a moment of silence and sang the National Anthem to remember the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks that struck the World Trade Center towers in New York, the Pentagon near Washington, D.C. and a field in Somerset, Pennsylvania.
Jackson said the gesture was meant to pay tribute to the victims and be mindful of the day’s events.
“We are taking time in the day to remember all of those affected,” Jackson said.
