Items initially scheduled for October’s Board of Supervisors meeting, which included a joint comprehensive plan workshop between Lunenburg County, The Town of Victoria and the Town of Kenbridge officials, have been moved to Thursday’s board meeting.
The Thursday meeting is set to take place 6 p.m. at the Lunenburg County Courthouse.
Due to the intensity of Tropical Storm Michael, the October board meeting was canceled.
The purpose of the comprehensive plan is to clearly identify rules and goals for the county to implement in the future. The county’s comprehensive plan was last updated in 2012. Various local government agencies are working with the Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) in developing the plan, which had an online survey for residents in 2017 and three community meetings earlier in the year.
The Thursday meeting is also set to have two public hearings to propose installing cemeteries in Lunenburg.
The first family cemetery, proposed by applicant Sylvester J. Holmes, would be located in the 2000 block of Old Mansion Road in Lunenburg. The land parcel consists of 15.29 acres, according to a public notice of the meeting.
The second family cemetery, proposed by applicant Dennis Jones, would be located on the 3000 block of Plank Road in the Town of Kenbridge. The land parcel consists of 33.10 acres.
The land parcels for both properties can be viewed online at lunenburggis.timmons.com.
