FEBRUARY 21

PROGRAM, to learn more about becoming a census taker will take place at Ripberger Library from 10 a.m.-noon and at Victoria Library from 1-4 p.m.

FEBRUARY 22

TOURS, 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Twin Lakes State Park to celebrate Black History Month with special tours of what used to be Prince Edward State Park. Visitors will tour the historic Cedar Crest Conference Center and see where visitors of Prince Edward State Park for negroes swam, fish, dined and danced in the 1950s and 60s. The event is free to the public. Parking fees apply, which can be paid at the park office.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. hosted by the E.C. Thompson Alliance of Minister’s Wives and Ministers at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Anointed Voices from Prince Edward will be in concert. Everyone is welcome.

FEBRUARY 23

BLACK HISTORY CELEBRATION, 11:15 a.m. at The Greater Hayes Grove Baptist Church, 1879 Union Level Road, South Hill.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. hosted by the Missionary Circle of Union R.Z.U.A. Church, Meredithville. A skit entitled the Glory Train will be performed by Mt. Bethel Baptist Church of Kenbridge. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at New Grove Baptist Church hosted by the Sunday School Ministry. The Blackstone Community Chorus will be in concert and presenting a skit entitled “The Old Fashion”. Everyone is welcome.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 3 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church. The Rev. Andy Hargrove, Pastor of the Williams Grove Baptist Church, will deliver the sermon. The Williams Grove Baptist Church Choir will provide the music. Dinner will be served. Everyone is welcome.

FEBRUARY 24

LUNENBURG DEMOCRATIC PARTY COMMITTEE TO MEET, 6 p.m. at the Victoria Restaurant. There will be a candidates forum with representatives for the 2020 Presidential election present.

FEBRUARY 25

MEETING, 4 p.m. of the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors at the Mullens-Starke Camp, 960 Woodman Road, Crewe. Note this is a change from the regular time and meeting location. The public is welcome.

PANCAKE SUPPER FOR SHROVE TUESDAY, 5-7 p.m. at the Victoria Christian Church. This “Mardi Gras” event immediately precedes “Ash Wednesday,” the first day of Lent, the pre-Easter season of self-sacrifice. Donations accepted to benefit Madeline’s House, the Southside Shelter for Abused Women and Children.

APRIL 25

TASTE OF THE STATES EVENT, 2 p.m. hosted by Mayflower Baptist Church at the Kenbridge-Victoria Fire and Rescue building for an afternoon of fun, fellowship and great food. Sample dishes from the South Carolina low-country, the Mississippi Delta, the Louisiana Bayou, Tex-Mex, and many other samples.
