Joe Bennett, of Lunenburg County, presents a buck that he shot with a black powder rifle from his deer stand in Lunenburg on Saturday. The buck was a little more than 100 yards from his position when it emerged from the woods on a hill above his stand. After seeing big bucks in the area over the years, he finally got one of significant size during black powder season. The buck is an eight-pointer, it has a 21 3/4-inch inside rack and it weighs 199 pounds.
