A strong winning streak has helped define the 2017-18 season so far for Kenston Forest School’s varsity boys team.

The Kavaliers have suffered back-to-back losses in their two December contests so far, and they opened the year with an 11-point road loss, but in between those defeats, they went on a five-game winning streak, claiming two victories on the road and three at home to stand at 5-3 overall.

“Our team just needs to continue to work hard and have fun competing,” Kavaliers Head Coach Scotty Atkins said. “With conference games coming up, we have to remember that points will not come easy. We’ll try to outwork the other teams and hopefully come out on top.”

During their winning streak, the Kavs defeated Lawrence Academy, Pungo Christian Academy, Holy Cross Regional, Halifax Academy and Temple Christian.

They averaged 63 points per game across those five games, but that average was not enough to top visiting Greenbrier Christian Academy on Dec. 5 or host Isle of Wight Academy on Dec. 11.

Team leaders so far have included Moe’Wuante Morrison, who is averaging 15.5 points and 3.0 assists per game, Javon Carter, who is averaging 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, Jah’Tavious Houston, who is averaging 7.5 points and 5.5 steals per game, and Kenny Underwood, who is averaging 11 rebounds per game.

Kenston Forest has one more game left on the schedule for 2017. It is set to visit Temple Christian on Friday, Dec. 29, with tipoff set for 6:30 p.m.
