Members of the Lunenburg Board of Supervisors voted in favor of passing two conditional use permits, one for an event venue and the other for a bull breeding and training facility Thursday.

Both permits were approved with conditions, Deputy Administrator Nicole Clark said.

Conditions for the event venue, set to be located at an existing partially wood and metal multi-use building at 11940 Courthouse Road, include having operation hours end at 1 a.m. and promptly containing and removing all trash and solid waste.

Conditions for the bull breeding and training facility, called Let-R-Buck at 521 Mountain Road in Victoria, include filing a certificate of liability insurance of/or at least $500,000 with Lunenburg County within 30 days; constructing and maintaining a high tensile strength fence to contain livestock (high tensile strength fences are fences that have high resistance to pressure without breaking); having the facility be for training only, not to hold public or group events; filing documents provided by a veterinarian licensed by the state of Virginia stating health conditions for the livestock used for training (which, county documentation noted, includes feed-water-shelter), and medical attention at yearly intervals, which would become part of public files; and having the conditional use permit be reviewed and reauthorized once every three years.

Seven spoke during the public hearing for Let-R-Buck facility. Clark said all of the speakers spoke in favor of the project.

Clark said Lunenburg resident Lamont Brand asked about the care of animals on the property.

No one from the public spoke during the hearing for the event venue, Clark said.
