The Lunenburg County Youth Baseball League (LCYBL) and Lunenburg Girls’ Softball (LGS) are still hoping to play ball this summer once restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic are lifted.
“We are just waiting on the governor to let us play,” LGS Commissioner Tim Fowler said Tuesday, May 5. “We still want to have a season. At this time we are hoping to play in June and July.”
In a Facebook Live video delivered in April, LCYBL President David Clark said the league’s uniforms are ready, the field is waiting and the plan is to play whether the season starts in mid-May, the first of June or later.
“We intend, in Lunenburg, to have a baseball season,” he said.
Gov. Ralph Northam announced Monday, May 5, that some restrictions would be lifted May 15.
In his Facebook Live video, Clark also noted the LCYBL reverse raffle event, originally set for May 9, has been rescheduled for Aug. 15 at the Dundas Hunt Club in Kenbridge.
