Veteran sportswriter Titus Mohler has joined The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch as sports editor.

Mohler has worked the last four years as a sports writer for the Suffolk News-Herald, a daily newspaper in southeast Virginia.

Mohler, who will also assist with general news coverage, said he is “grateful for the opportunity to serve Lunenburg and the surrounding counties by covering the accomplishments of their sports teams and student-athletes.”

Mohler has won numerous Virginia Press Association awards during his tenure in Suffolk.

“It has been a privilege to cover sports in Suffolk, where I have lived for 20 years, and I am excited that it has led to an opportunity for full-time work in Lunenburg,” he said.

Mohler first began working for the Suffolk News-Herald as a freelancer in January 2012, becoming a frequent writer and photographer of sports events until being officially hired in August of that year.

“I am thrilled to have Titus join our team,” said Dispatch Editor Hannah Davis.

“Titus is just what our paper needs and will play a huge role as our sports editor as he will be able to highlight Lunenburg County Public School, Kenston Forest School and recreational sports. I believe he will make an excellent addition to our team.”

Mohler joins Davis, Jamie C. Ruff and Wanda Fix as a Dispatch employee.

He graduated with distinction from Old Dominion University in 2007, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications.

“We are blessed to have Titus on our team,” said Dispatch Publisher Steve Stewart, who worked with Mohler in Suffolk for three years. “He is a proven sports journalist who understands what it takes to provide first-rate sports coverage for readers of a community newspaper.”
