A trio of state tourneys

Lunenburg County will be a busy place this weekend as it hosts three Dixie Youth state tournaments, with play beginning Friday and running as late as Wednesday.
The Lunenburg County Youth Baseball League (LCYBL) will host the State Dixie Youth Baseball Major League and AA Machine Pitch all-star tournaments in Victoria at Lenhart Field and Neblett Field, respectively.
Meanwhile, at the Lunenburg Girls’ Softball (LGS) complex in Kenbridge, LGS will host the State Dixie Softball Angels All-Star Tournament, with separate brackets for traditional and X-Play.
The LGS Angels will face Crewe-Burkeville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
In the Major League tourney, Lunenburg will play Amelia on Friday at 8 p.m., and in the Machine Pitch tourney, the Lunenburg squad will face South Hill on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Major League tournament opening ceremonies will be held Friday at 6 p.m. and will double as a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Major League Dixie Youth Baseball in Virginia.
